What started off as a few friends jamming together in garages turned into your next favorite indie pop band. Meet Similar Kind, a group of musicians who come all the way from Norwalk, CT. They originally released music in 2019 with their debut EP, Faces & Places. Similar Kind took influence from bands like The Cure and Talking Heads when creating this well-produced EP. Everything from tone to beats to lyrics, this band started their career off on the right foot. A fan favorite, as well as my own, on this project is Seasons. It talks about experiences in relationships and how feelings change and grow closer and grow apart throughout time. Their most popular release called Nobody Loves You released in 2020 hit over 1.4 million streams on Spotify alone! The band shares that this song “ is about the divide of a friendship. They have moved on to something more exciting, while you have always been there for them and understand them better than anyone else.” The music itself makes you feel ready for summer with their sweet vocal performance, flowy guitar, and foot-tapping drum beats.
In more recent news, Similar Kind just wrapped up their tour in 13 cities throughout the US and Canada! They joined Hot Flash Heat Wave and Small Crush to bring the fans an electrifying performance at each and every show. Their sets were lively and the good vibes were incredibly contagious to everyone who attended. I’m excited to see what is to come for this spectacular band in the future as they continue to blow us away with every new song that’s been released thus far! Check out their social media to see what the band will bless us with in the future and take a listen to their music on your favorite streaming platform.
